This film features three Berliet trucks in a long truck pursuit across the Sahara, chasing a big payoff: the legendary GBC 8KT "Gazelle" driven by Lino Ventura, the TB 015 driven by Bernard Blier and the TLM 10 M2 driven by Jean-Paul Belmondo.Â

The film was overlooked by the festival jury, winning no awards, but it enjoyed popular success. The film's distribution and ripostes from Michel Audiard such as "in life we always share the shit, but never the money" gave it a cult following.
By 1953, Georges Clouzot had cast trucks (Dodge, White..) as real characters in his film The Wages of Fear, which was awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes festival.
